Meet our Doulas

Lawon Smith-Harris

Experienced birth worker with more than twenty years in maternal and child health. Lawon began as an AmeriCorps trained breastfeeding counselor and home visitor, later becoming a DONA certified doula and trainer. With a background in childbirth education and nonprofit management, she now supports families in Wisconsin and Illinois through compassionate, culturally grounded care.

Crescenta Sabree

Crescenta grew up hearing generations of pregnancy and birth stories in her family, some joyful and others marked by difficult experiences. As she began to notice more women feeling unheard during birth, she felt called to become a doula in 2019. Her goal is to help families regain their voice, trust their instincts, and feel empowered throughout their journey. Outside of birthwork, Crescenta supports the well being and safety of children in childcare settings.

Gvee Rodriguez

Gvee Rodriguez was born and raised in Milwaukee and is a mother of three girls. She works at the Aurora Women’s Pavilion and owns a Yoni Steam and body sculpting business, where her interest in supporting women eventually led her to doula work. After attending an at home birth for her best friend, she began training and became certified. Gvee is known for her loyalty, kindness, and strong communication skills, and she is committed to educating and advocating for birthing parents so they can have a supported and memorable birth experience.

Alexia Brown

Alexia is a full spectrum doula, certified infant and toddler teacher, and parent educator with more than eight years of experience supporting families. Her work is grounded in compassion, education, and individualized care. She is committed to creating calm and supportive environments for parents and children and brings knowledge and steady guidance to every stage of the journey. Alexia is passionate about helping families feel confident, connected, and supported.

DeAngela Jones

DeAngela Jones was born in Milwaukee and raised between Wisconsin and Arkansas, where caring for others became a natural part of her life. She witnessed her first birth at age twelve and later became a Certified Nursing Assistant to care for her daughter, who was born with Spina Bifida. With more than thirty years of experience supporting individuals as a CNA, childcare provider, CBRF caregiver, and medical assistant, De Angela brings deep compassion, strength, and skill to her work. She became a doula to continue supporting families through safe and meaningful birth experiences and is proud to serve with the Wisconsin Doulas of Color Collective.

Mariah Robbins

Mariah is a full spectrum doula with a strong background in medical care and childcare. Her own birth experiences inspired her to support families in the ways she once needed. As a mother of three, she brings empathy, warmth, and real understanding into every birth space. Mariah believes every family deserves to feel supported and empowered, and she is committed to creating birth experiences where parents feel seen, heard, and confident.

Tisha

Tisha is a certified birth doula and postpartum specialist in training who believes deeply in informed support and compassionate care. She is committed to guiding families through pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period with knowledge, reassurance, and steady encouragement. Tisha supports all birth choices and focuses on creating calm, safe environments where families feel heard and confident. She provides education, comfort measures, newborn care guidance, and breastfeeding support, helping parents adjust to life with their baby. Tisha continues her education regularly and is honored to serve families as part of their birth team.

Kierston Gallimore

Kierston is a dedicated birthworker with a deep commitment to serving her community. Her background as a medical assistant and owner of a mobile phlebotomy and drug testing business has strengthened her ability to provide compassionate and informed care. She became a doula to educate, advocate for, and empower birthing people during one of the most important moments of their lives. Kierston believes every family deserves a safe and supportive birth experience and offers emotional, physical, and informational guidance throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. She values active listening, respect, and open communication and strives to create a trusted space where families feel seen, heard, and confident in their choices.

Sih’Khemmes

Tamika Henderson, also known as Sih’Khemmes, is a health professional with more than twenty-five years of experience caring for people across the lifespan. Her work has included early childhood care, rehabilitation services for individuals with special needs, and support for elders in long term care settings. She was introduced to birthwork within the last decade and felt called to pursue the nurturing path of doula care. Tamika has a deep passion for human connection and supporting people at their most vulnerable. Outside of birthwork, she enjoys gardening, exploring plant based cooking, and being a steady presence within her family.

Latifah Free

Latifah Free has always had a passion for birth and babies. Her interest began at a young age and grew stronger after experiencing both a pleasant birth and a traumatic one of her own. These experiences shaped her commitment to helping families feel informed, heard, and supported during pregnancy and birth. Latifah holds a degree in Sociology and Africology with a certification in youth development from UW Milwaukee and works in the medical field assessing health and medical needs. She believes in education, advocacy, and helping families understand their bodies and birth options. In her free time, Latifah enjoys writing books and gardening.

Zita Marie

Zita Marie has spent twenty-five years supporting wellness in her community, caring for people from infancy through elder years. With a passion for helping mothers bring healthy babies into the world, she is now fulfilling her longtime dream of becoming a certified doula. Zita began her career in Milwaukee, where she earned her nursing degree and worked in both geriatric and pediatric care. She later became an instructor, teaching CNA, CBRF, medical assistant, and CPR training at colleges and medical institutions. Zita is also deeply devoted to her family and proudly embraces her role as mother and grandmother, lovingly known as GG.

Veronica Warren

Veronica Warren is committed to creating a safe and comfortable atmosphere for families during pregnancy, labor, and postpartum. She is the founder of DouLuv Birthing Hands and brings more than eight years of experience as a personal care worker. Veronica currently works as a certified medical assistant and is studying to become a nurse. Her doula journey began after supporting her daughter through the births of her two grandchildren, an experience that inspired her to help other families welcome their babies with confidence and care. With training from the Wisconsin Doulas of Color Collective and DONA, Veronica is fully prepared and honored to support families through their birthing journey.
